Veterinarian
Dr. Burnett grew up outside of Minneapolis, MN. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology with a concentration in Animal Physiology from Cornell University in 2002. She then moved to Boston and worked for Tufts University in a pharmacology research lab as well as worked as a veterinary technician at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in the emergency and critical care ward.
In 2005, Dr. Burnett moved to California to begin graduate school at UC Davis in the Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Physiology program. Dr. Burnett began her veterinary training in 2007 and was a participant in the Veterinary Scientist Training Program, allowing her to pursue her DVM and PhD concurrently. She earned her DVM in 2013 and PhD in 2014 while working in small animal veterinary practice in the Sacramento area. Dr. Burnett is also the CFO of the Mercer Veterinary Clinic in Sacramento which is a program run by the UC Davis veterinary students providing free veterinary care to the pets of those experiencing homelessness.
Dr. Burnett started Pets’ Request Mobile Veterinary Services after the birth of her older daughter to fill the need for convenient, at-home veterinary care for dogs and cats. She lives in Davis with her husband and daughters. They have a small zoo at home including, a dog, 5 cats, 3 fish, a leopard gecko, and chickens. Dr. Burnett cannot wait until she has a little more free time to start riding horses again.
